Name the task
An ambition such as ‘use AI across the business’ is difficult to evaluate. A specific task, such as drafting a summary for a person to review or helping organise incoming requests, has clearer boundaries. Start with the current workflow and identify where people spend time on repeatable work.
Keep the review in the workflow
A confident response is not necessarily a correct one. Decide who reviews an output, which information they need, and what happens when the system cannot help. The review experience deserves the same attention as the generation itself.
Learn before expanding
Try a limited workflow with representative examples. Compare outputs to an agreed standard, record failure cases and consider the cost of correction. Expand only when the evidence supports it. Sometimes a deterministic rule is the better tool.
